Testimonial from Mr. A. S - Chapel Hill Qld To the Audiologist Falls of Sound, Indooroopilly I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude for all that you have done to enable me, with my hearing loss, to hear better in various situations and thus helping me to have a more fulfilling life. When I came to you with my hearing problems last year, you provided me with the best available hearing aids that come under the Government Hearing Service Programme. Even with these sophisticated aids, I had many difficulties, and you patiently helped me to get the aids tailored to my needs. I greatly appreciate your kind cooperation and your unique system of getting feedback to disappear. However good the hearing aids may be, it seemed that I could not clearly pick up speech from a distance. Thus, though my aids are of great help when communicating with others, I was unable to understand much with the aids whilst listening to a speaker addressing a small audience without a microphone, even if I occupied a front seat. In larger gatherings, I had to be close to a loudspeaker, and even then, I was unable to follow the speech fully. Although even when wearing my aids I did not have to increase the volume of the TV, I did have to get closer to the TV to listen clearly to the spoken words, which was not good for the eyes. You kindly came to my rescue once again. You introduced me to the EasyLink/ MyLink FM wireless transmitter and receiver set, which I now use in conjunction with my hearing aids to solve the problems. This has done a great deal of good for me. By using this FM device I am able to clearly hear the speech addressed at meetings, even if I sit in the back row. I now realise how much I have missed over all these years. I am able to listen to TV programmes from any distance in the room and even if I am in another room while the programme is on, I can still hear clearly. I understand that the operating distance of the FM device is up to 50 feet inside buildings and 100 feet in open air. However, I still have some difficulties using the FM device, but it is mostly due to my inability to use it as instructed for optimum speech quality. For example, I have to place the transmitter on the table in front of the speaker as I find that I am unable to get the speaker to wear it around his neck (as instructed). I then still miss some softly spoken words at distances, but the FM device serves its purpose wonderfully well. I am also able to switch the hearing aids to four different programme settings to suit each occasion, and this is very convenient. Once again, thanks for everything. Sincerely yours, A.S - Chapel Hill, QLD |
